Professional Development Requirement
The PDR is the continuing education program for PGA of America Members. Cycle 18 began June 16, 2025 and runs through June 15, 2028. Here is what you owe over those three years.
Reduced requirements. Members whose age plus years of membership totaled 90 or more before June 16, 2025 earn 12 credits only, from any PDR category. Members who reach the combination of 90 during the cycle may request a pro-rated reduction. Members in the Reserve classification and the International Section earn half the requirement.
How to Earn Credits
Most Professionals only count meetings and seminars and end up short. Plenty of work you already do counts. These are the credit values set by the PGA Board of Directors for Cycle 18.
| Activity | Credit value |
|---|---|
| Section or Chapter in-person business meeting or education | 2 credits per hour. For a hybrid session, virtual attendees earn half credit. Virtual-only sessions are credited 1:1. |
| Other career-specific education, including serving as a speaker or instructor | 1 credit per hour. Includes youth safety, inclusion, and mental health wellbeing topics. |
| National meetings, including Board and Committee meetings | 1 credit per hour. Virtual attendance at a hybrid meeting earns half credit. |
| National surveys, such as the Compensation Profile and Member Offering Survey | Up to 2 credits per survey, per cycle year. |

| PGA HOPE clinics | 1 credit per hour, up to 6 credits per cycle year. |

| Activity | Credit value |
|---|---|
| Serving the Section, Chapter, National PGA, or an allied association, and advancement-of-the-game work such as clinics, speeches, radio and TV appearances, promotional events, and volunteering as a non-playing tournament official | 1 credit per hour, up to 8 credits per day.
