Funkhouser wins the New Mexico Open by seven.
The amateur from College Station, Texas, closed with 67 to finish 23 under par at Turtleback Mountain Golf & Resort. Ryan Sullivan finished second and takes home the $30,000 first-place check as low professional.
Rounds of 65, 61 and 67
Jackson Funkhouser never trailed after Tuesday morning. He opened with 65 on Monday, shot 11-under 61 on Tuesday to take a seven-shot lead, and on Wednesday matched the field’s best players shot for shot with a 5-under 67 to win the 2026 Turtleback Mountain Golf & Resort New Mexico Open presented by New Mexico True.
The final round did not start cleanly. Funkhouser bogeyed the second and the seventh and made the turn in 1-over 37, his only over-par nine of the week. He answered with a 30 on the back: a birdie at the 10th, four in a row from the 12th through the 15th, and one more at the last. He made 24 birdies and five bogeys over 54 holes.
Funkhouser is an amateur and played the week in New Mexico State colors. He missed the cut in this championship a year ago, when his former college teammate Aidan Thomas won it. Thomas, the defending champion, closed with 67 on Wednesday and tied for third.
Sullivan finishes 16 under, takes the $30,000
Ryan Sullivan of Winston-Salem, N.C., shot 67-66-67 for 200, 16 under par, and finished alone in second, two shots clear of the players tied for third. He made six birdies on Wednesday and played the back nine in 2 under. Because the champion is an amateur, Sullivan earns the $30,000 first-place check.
Sullivan started the week with a double bogey on his first hole Monday, then played the front nine in 5 under. He was bogey-free on Tuesday.
